Facilities Maintenance Assistant - Mattapoisett and Wareham YMCA

Working across the Mattapoisett and Wareham YMCA branches, you will be part of a team dedicated to maintaining safe, clean, and welcoming facilities for members, staff, and the surrounding community. This position is ideal for a dependable, self-motivated individual who values preventative maintenance and takes pride in facility operations.
Position Summary:
The Facility Maintenance Assistant supports the safe and efficient daily operation of both the Mattapoisett and Wareham branches. Responsibilities include routine maintenance, minor repairs, inspections, and assisting with equipment and room setups to ensure both facilities remain fully functional and safe for programs and member use.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily and routine maintenance tasks at both branch locations
- Complete minor repairs and preventative maintenance work
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of fitness areas, program spaces, locker rooms, and common areas
- Conduct facility inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns
- Set up and break down rooms, furniture, and equipment for programs and events
- Assist with exterior upkeep, including seasonal tasks such as snow removal and grounds care
- Support compliance with YMCA health, safety, and risk management standards
- Travel between Mattapoisett and Wareham branches as needed

Qualifications:
- Prior experience in general facility maintenance preferred
- Skills in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, or HVAC are a plus
- Ability to work weekends and occasional evenings
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to safety
- Ability to work independently and coordinate tasks across multiple locations
Physical Requirements:
This role requires the ability to:
- Climb stairs and ladders
- Bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and reach frequently
- Stand and walk for extended periods
- Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Perform repetitive manual tasks
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions

Compensation: $48,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
